Henry Ollive died of wounds on 1st May, 1915 after having been brought back to the United Kingdom but as yet there is no information as to when and where he was wounded. The 2nd East Surrey battalion were part of 85 Brigade, 28th Division which had arrived in France in January 1915. In April and May 1915 they were engaged in the desperate struggle in the north-east sector of the Ypres salient, which became known as Second Ypres.
